Betsy Condon

Commissioner Condon, former Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, serves on the Investment Committee, North Florida Transportation Planning Organization, Northeast Florida Regional Council’s Personnel Budget & Finance Policy, and their Board of Directors,  Public Safety Coordinating Council, Small County Coalition, and the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board. 

Betsy Condon was initially elected in November 2020 to fill a vacant seat as District 4 Commissioner and was reelected in November 2022. She earned her Certified County Commissioner designation in 2021 from the Florida Association of Counties.

Commissioner Condon is a native of Keystone Heights, a conservative wife, a mother (a proud Army mom), and a business owner. She is a graduate of Keystone Heights Jr./Sr. High School and earned her bachelor's degree in Environmental Health Science from the University of Georgia.

After graduating from the University of Georgia, Condon started her career as an environmental specialist with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). Her primary concentration was environmental and safety compliance projects, including oil/water separation, groundwater contamination, monitoring well management, and prevention. One of the most significant projects she worked on at MARTA was identifying safety equipment in preparation for the 1996 Olympic Games hosted in Atlanta.

Condon then worked as an environmental specialist for Energizer Power Systems, managing all environmental compliance programs, including EPA RCRA compliance, all hazardous waste management and disposal, groundwater contamination monitoring program for over 200 monitor wells, and all state and local compliance. 1998, she accepted the Environment & Safety Coordinator position at Moltech Power Systems Ltd. As the Environment and Safety Coordinator, Condon was responsible for managing environmental compliance systems for the EPA RCRA program, groundwater contamination monitoring program, hazardous waste disposal and management program, and all state compliance.

Establishing a very successful career within the environmental compliance and safety industry, her passion and extensive knowledge led her to become the Director of Environmental Health Safety at Regeneration Technologies, Inc. While at RTI, Condon managed all environmental and safety compliance within the $200 million medical device manufacturing company, wrote compliance manuals & training plans, implemented corporate goals and objectives, and achieved over a million hours worked without a lost time accident. She won the prestigious honor of being named the 2006 Compliance Magazine Safety Director of the Year.

After leaving corporate life to focus on raising her children, the couple moved back to her hometown of Keystone Heights, where they raised the last of their combined family and built a successful business. The couple owns and operates a manufacturing company called Auxadyne in Keystone Heights. They manufacture a high-performance foam padding branded XPF with the technology they licensed from FSU and then perfected the commercialization of auxetic foam. Their company focuses on three verticals of medical devices: military and first responder equipment, apparel and sports equipment, and apparel.  One of the many applications of auxetic foam is reducing impact, which could lead to fewer concussions, earning the company recognition from the National Football League (NFL).

In addition to Condon’s environmental work, she advocates for serving her community in various ways. She was elected to the Clay County School Board, representing District 3, from 2014 to 2018.  She helped lead the Clay County District Schools from being ranked 20^th in Florida to 8th. Condon is the Immediate Past President of the Keystone Heights Rotary Club, an active member of Keystone Methodist Church, a board member of Capital City Bank Community Board, and a member of the NRA.

After working for 15 years in environmental compliance, Condon understands our water, drainage, and flooding issues and how development affects them. She is passionate about bringing the right kind of growth and responsible development to District 4. Condon wants to ensure that the County utilizes County resources sensibly and wisely while not wasting taxpayer dollars.

Condon believes infrastructure planning and implementation are the county’s most important focus areas.

“First & foremost, working to ensure all of Clay County has access to reliable, affordable high-speed internet needs to be a priority with so many of our residents working and attending school from home. Beyond that, road planning, sidewalks, drainage, paving, traffic flow, protection of our natural resources, and careful approval of new development are vital to ensuring Clay County remains the great place we all love for generations to come!” – Betsy Condon.
